The Lost Kingdom

Hey y'all! ....I should probably find a different way of beginning my posts.
Anyways, I haven't photographed anything interesting lately, so you're stuck with another one of my poems for this week. :) It was inspired by the picture below, which I found on Pinterest. Hope you enjoy.

The Lost Kingdom

She stands alone on a dark hilltop

The roar of battle finally stopped

Little fires burn around

Singeing the grass left on the ground

One star, through the smoke shines

Blinking down through the veil of grime

Shedding his light on the lonely girl

Shedding his light on the broken world

Her heart within her beats softly, slow

As she gazes down at the kingdom below

Shadows its fields and darkness its towers

A chilling wind its bell tolling every hour

One cry on the wind remains

With every moment, it’s volume gains

The song of the people, now growing still

The song of the kingdom, now shadows guild

Its notes reach her ears

Down her cheek, a single tear

Shed for her land so dear

Now taken by flames and fear

She stands alone on that dark hilltop

The roar of battle finally stopped

Little fires burn around

Little fires singe the ground.

Sincerely,

  1. Please explain something to me, Willa. I want to know why you always talk about how we are "stuck" with your poems. I LOVE your poems, and think they are good enough to get you published. :D please post them more often!
