In Sunset Red || Selfie Series

I picked a good night to take some pictures. The sunset was simply breathtaking in our little neck of the woods, and I was blessed enough to capture a small portion of it on camera. Dusk had begun falling when I started taking these... after I accidentally forgot to take them earlier in the day. :-/

(No, I am not enthralled with that tree branch, whatever it may look like. :P)

Yeah, so, just as I got started setting up to take these, our neighbor, who waters our cows for us, drove up this back road on our property and passed me... Yeah. Taking selfies by yourself, with a tripod, out in the middle of the woods is more awkward than most people would think...

Photography Friday // Selfie Series - Tree-Hugger! (And Other Autumness)

I'm not sure myself...

Just as I was taking the last shots for this post, the clouds started scattering rain. I hurried to try and finish, but I realized the skies were going to burst any moment and decided to quit just before the nick of time. I packed up my camera and lenses, hopped on the ATV, and started for home just as the flash-downpour began. Driving home, I could barely see because of the rain, or breathe, because I was laughing so hard. 

So, obviously, once I got the ATV safely in the carport, I took more selfies. This time soaked and laughing way too hard. I think my crazy may have been showing.

I am so happy Autumn is here!

Photography Friday // Selfie Series - Music Video

I thought I'd do something a little different this week and post a selfie "video".
A very dear friend of mine had been laid up sick for weeks, so I bought the most sappy friendship song I could find on iTunes, ran around for about three days filming myself being stupid, and mashed it all together to make the video now before you.
Since almost all of it I filmed myself, with the exception of two scenes which my family filmed for me, I guess this sort of counts as a selfie, right?

And yes, I know I'm lip-sinking to a guy's voice.
An no, I have no idea how to play the guitar.

Photography Friday \\ Selfie Series - Randomosity

So, for the entire month of August, my friend Andrea and I decided we weren't going to wear any make-up. 

We weren't going on some "skin-purge" or giving something up like at Lent. We just liked the idea of taking off the mask that so many people hide behind and showing ourselves as well as the rest of the world that we're comfortable and happy with who we are, with or without mascara or eyeliner or any of the other beauty "enhancing" things the world pushes on us.

I have to say it's been a really wonderful month. Empowering and humbling at the same time. I'm now more confident than ever with myself, just for the reason that I stopped spending time worrying about what other people were going to think about my face, and instead resting in the knowledge that God created beautiful in HIS sight, and the rest of the world doesn't matter.

I have acne. I have chicken-pox scars. I have braces and big, blue circles under my eyes. But I'm finding myself no longer caring about that stuff. God likes me and I like me. :) 

So, yes, in all these pictures for the last month, I haven't had much make-up on. Hope you like these new ones. They'll be the last "make-up-less" selfies, because next Friday will be September 5th!

Photography Friday // Selfie Series

Starting this week, I'm going to try and post selfies in a sort of "blog series". 
It's hard taking a picture of yourself when you don't have a remote to your camera, so you have to run back and forth setting the timer and focusing on a vague area, and then running and trying to guess the general location of where it was focused and somehow manage to smile without looking awkward. 
Yet, by some miracle, these turned out...
