Autumn Again

I can hardly believe it's Fall again! I don't know what it is about Fall that makes it my favorite season. Maybe it's because I like wearing coats and hats and scarves, and skipping in the leaves, watching as they change from green to yellow and red and brown. Maybe because I love the feel of cold wind on my face, and the sound of crisp leaves bashing against each other in the wind. Maybe it's the colors and the pumpkins and the hot mugs of cider. Maybe it's because every time this season comes around, I feel that beautiful yet painful  yearning feeling for greater glory. A lust to be part of such beauty and splendor, to be able to understand what the trees whisper to each other as the wind visits them, or understand the song of the birds as they fly above. 
But the Creator who made them understands them, and I am his child. And that's good enough for me. :)

Crinkle crackle, sprinkle scrackle,

Leaves beneath my feet.

Tinkle tockle, dinkle dockle,

Tears drops of rain beat.

Hush, whisper, hush,

Never before has it been so light.

Hush, murmur, hush,

As it always is before the night.

Spinning, twisting, falling free

I stand beneath the low-branched trees.

Spinning, dancing, crimson red

I lay upon it, a ruby bed…

Crinkle, crackle… Tinkle tockle,

Silence in the trees.

Hush, whisper, murmur,

How beautiful is fall to me…
