Writers Wednesday || Blood Moon

Blood Moon
Upon the earthbound,
marshy road,
I looked and saw the
blood red rose
Of the moon upon
the waves of stars,
Floating o'er the depths of
shadow shards.

Terror seized
me with burning claws,
Dug through skin to
my pulsing heart.
Memory encaged by
thin crystal glass,
Shattered, broken
free at last.

Then I fled the
shades cast by the night,
I fled the grip
of seething fright.
Most of all I fled
that wretched gaze,
Of that bloody moon like
flesh ablaze.

I reached the trees and
welcome shaded veiw
From the moon, pale red light
Still seeping through,
And thought of home,
now far away,
Where I might have found
a different fate.

What'ch'y'all think?
