I know that lot's of you (my followers) are aspiring writers, and I was hoping (even if you don't write) to get y'alls opinion on what you're favorite kind of plot is, etc. If y'all could comment and give me one of the numbers and one of the letters below, and your opinion (why you think or like that kind of layout) I would really appreciate it! :)
Do you like:
#1 Deep plots, with lot's of colorful characters and back stories.
#2 Deep plots, but with milder characters.
#3 Simple plots but with very good characters and overall development.
#4 Easy to understand plot and easily understood characters.
Then, what genres do you like combined?
#B1 Heavy action/comedy/mystery
#B2 Mild action/ and lots of comedy
#B3 Mild action/mystery/not a ton of comedy
#B4 Heavy action/mystery/comedy/and deep character back round.
Thanks y'all!

I'd have to say: #1. But then I love where everything comes crashing down at the very end of the story. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd mild action, lots of comedy. (LOTS of comedy. ;)) which would be #B2.

Definitely #1. I prefer deep plots. The deeper the better. It shows that the author really put a lot of thought into the story, rather than just slapping it down on paper. (Though I must confess, I have sometimes been guilty of slapping...)
ReplyDeleteAnd... well, I'd say #B4. I like action, but I'm not too terribly adamant about the amount of action. But I am a huge fan of comedy! Mystery, I enjoy, and yes, deep character back ground is always acceptable. When you know a character better, it's easier to sympathize with him or her, and you more readily understand the character.
Definitely #1 and #B4! The more complex the story is, the better! :)
ReplyDeleteI have awarded you over at my blog: http://themusingsofmyself.blogspot.com/2012/06/four-blog-awards.html
I have to agree with Sierra and Kiri Liz. #1 and #B4 are a definite yes. I do like a book to have romance and clean flirting, like a wink, or a smile.
ReplyDeleteHey Willa! I love #1- characters with lots of personality and LOTS of little back "stories." Also B3 because of the simpler, quiet sort of books... they're so much more realistic.
ReplyDeleteThe others are awesome but the above are my favs. Love you, hun!
-Gabby
I would say 3 and B2:)
ReplyDeleteI prefer #3 and #B3.
ReplyDeleteI like reading books with a mix between #1 and #2!
ReplyDeleteDeep plots, with milder characters but with a little color and back stories!
Oh and with #B4 -Heavy action, mystery, and a little comedy goes a long way. :)
#1 Deep plots, with lot's of colorful characters and back stories.
ReplyDeleteMy older sister is an aspiring writer, I'll have to ask her what she likes :-)
I would have to say I like #1 and #B4 the best.
ReplyDeleteLove from a sister in Christ,
Eleanor
I think I would say #1 and #B1. How's the book coming?
ReplyDeleteIt's coming. Not terribly quickly, but it's coming. :)
