Writer's Wednesday || The Road of Bywaryskay

So... I found this old poem of my on Google Drive. Thought it would be fun to share.

Well, fun for me. Not so much for the poor people in the poem.

If y'all ever have an inspiration for a happy and sweet poem I could do, I'm all ears. But tragedy and death seem to be my forte when it comes to poetry... :P Maybe I've just watched too much Doctor Who. :)

So, hope y'all like this. Sorry if it's on the kinda cliche side. I wrote it awhile ago.

The Road of Bywaryskay

The winds were a gusty rapier, cutting the wintery white skies
Wailing hovered o’er the moor bittersweet as the tears carriers cry
It brought shivers of fear to the trav’lers upon their carts of hay
As they rattled down the road of Bywaryskay.

Old men in a heated tavern far down that strange old road
Told the horror stories of dark nights, in sinister undertones,
When unknowing travelers who took that long, weary way
Of the criss-crossing road of Bywaryskay.

“Many a lonesome hunter has been lost upon them dark moores
And more than a fare share of children from them cobbler pas’ poor
Not to mention, many a lover, has lost their dazed way
As they walked down that road of Bywaryskay.”

The purple moores looked upon it with cold silence, reverence and fear
Any who tread upon its stones felt it was not as it may appear
For around it hung a deep atmosphere of doomy and gray
No one understood that strange road of Bywaryskay.

It was said in long years ago, that on a cloudy winter night
When the stars had gone and naught could be seen of the moonlight
A young man came running, his face alive with dismay,
And behind him, an army came marching down Bywaryskay.

The boy was to warn the kingdom, or they would fall to the men
He must tell the king, no matter if he saw not day again
Sweat poured down his face as he ran o’er the lay
Of that dangerous strange road of Bywaryskay.

The army was gaining on him, his breath was running short
He could hear the thunder of boots and the horses’ scared snort
The clouds were parting, and in the moon’s light he saw her like day
A girl was before him on the road of Bywaryskay.

“The Enemies have come! The enemies are here!” was the scream
The girl saw him, just before he was lost in the armies’ tackle and gleam
There they struck him down, there on that highway
That lonesome, dangerous road of Bywaryskay.
The girl screamed with fright as she saw the death take place
As death stole the breath from the boy with silent grace
As the shadows of the horses and gleam of rapiers slay
Swarmed about that boy on the road of Bywaryskay.

The girl turned about, and ran with all her might towards the kingdom
But the army was gaining on her in their unbreakable column
Her duty was certain and so she stopped there and stayed
For the army to come upon her on Bywaryskay.

The horses thundered towards her, a gleaming madness in their eyes
As the first one was nearly upon her, she stepped to the side,
She grabbed the pistol by the soldier’s saddle in the fray
And pulled the trigger on that road of Bywaryskay.
The shot rang out as an echo of agony in the night
Warning the kingdom of the enemies, their nearing plight
The army shot her down with a thousand bullets as pay
For her warning on the road of Bywaryskay.

So should you ever come upon that dark lonely moore
Just remember this tale, this horrible lore
And hopefully you will stay clean away
From that dreadful road of Bywaryskay.

Well, I have to get back to drinking Epsom salts and grapefruit juice (Yeah... don't ask.)

Y'all have a really great day!

Goblin toes and gravel,

    1. You say la la, I say laloo. It's like "you guys" or "y'all" or how different people pronounce pecans. :) <3
